Hello everyone, first I'd like to thank everyone who takes the time to read this and offer suggestions.
Background: I recently had to move suddenly, and had a small window of time to rebuild my coop and run. Previously I had a large flight Avery 20x20x10 run with a 8x6 coop. In moving I rebuilt an enclosed run that is 20'Lx6'Wx5'H and I turned an existing wood shed into my coop. The wood shed had a cement floor and I have put sand over the floor and run.
My flock is mostly silkies, one bantam Cochin, one Ameraucauna, and a showgirl roo. The problem I'm having is I can't seem to get rid of a bad case of mites, lice, and leg mites are especially bad on their feathered feet. I have dusted with Sevin every 8 days for the last month. Dusted the coop and providing garlic with the food, lots of greens and ACV in the water. Using vasoline on the feet, just purchased NuStock to switch it up. I still can't get rid of the mites and lice! I realize I should have sealed and painted the old wood shed that I made into the coop but hindsight is 20/20. I have two silkies sitting on eggs that are due to hatch in 72 hours, so I can't heavily treat the coop right now with heavy pesticides.
My question is there anything else I should be doing? Will the NuStock affect my broody silkies eggs? I just ordered Ivecmectrin pour on and will be adding wood ash to their run for dust baths. Is there something else I can treat my coop that won't affect the chicks hatching?
Please let me know, thank you!!
