You really need to get the Sevin or whatever you use down at the base of the feathers. Ivermectin gets around this, and worms them too, though it won't kill tapeworm. I like the bagging technique but have always wondered if they got dusted thoroughly enough. I've only treated them preventively, with permethrin type spray or dust. (Never see any but I can't believe there aren't some there.) There's also the powder puff technique, put it in a sock and pat it on like a body powder.
Agree 100% with dawg about DE. I do use it for some things. I just sprinkled it around the coop to kill fly eggs as the neighbor's cattle evidently got moved again....
