Is ther an way to prevent mites. What is De? What dose it do? where can you get it? thanks

I use it for mites,
when I clean my coop I spread some of this, just in case. also you can put it in the place your chickens like to dust bath. then they will dust them selfs.

I've bought diatomaceous earth in 10 lb bags from these folks, and found it to be terrific and very resonable. Organic gardeners use it for soft-bodied pests, and it is food grade so that it is perfectly safe for birds and humans. It works very well on fleas on pets, and mites on chickens brought into their yard by wild birds. I sprinkle it in my hens' laying boxes and it works great at eradicating mites.
