After pulling out to dump and refill the water bin i keep in the duck coop, my hands came up covered in red colored mites. i was reading elsewhere and sounds like they are Northern mites. i have chickens also, but all except one are penned separately. Hope they don't have mites, too. i check them all frequently and haven't seen them.
Anyhow, i can't get someone out to muck out all the hay in the duck coop till this weekend. In the meantime, i am thinking sprinkling DE over the hay, then more clean hay on top of that? Spraying the inside of the structure with Poultry Protector? But i need to treat my ducks, too. i have Ivermectin Pour On. Wondering if anyone knows the dosage for ducks. When i treat my chickens i do 1-2 drops for my bantams and 3 drops for my one standard size chicken.
Any other suggestions on how to treat mites on ducks or in their pens?
