Mites? Lice?

Okay, I am overwhelmed with these chicks! I think we have either mites, lice, or both

. I am wondering what I can do for 1-3 week old chicks for this problem?? They are scratching, and my daughter says she saw thing crawling around their vents.

I dusted them with DE yesterday, cuz I know that is safe-HELP!

seven dust.

You can get it just about anywhere in the garden isle. Sprinkle them down with it real good & it will kill just about anything that gets on them & isn't toxic to your birds.

Then use the same seven dust in the brooder & coop because the mites live in there too.

it is a good practice to give them a good sprinkle every month or so just to keep things under control.


It is good stuff. Works fast & isn't toxic to them even if they eat a bunch of it.

midget_farms is correct, sevin dust will get rid of the parasites. Dust your chicks again in 10 days to kill mites that may have hatched from eggs since your first dusting.
