mites started egg laying stopped

My young Silkie was laying steadily and then she got mites,
I've sprayed and treated her everyday and the mites are gone, but since this started she stopped laying......
Does this type of mite thing affect the egg laying ?
How long before she start laying those yummy butt nuggets again?

Mites can affect egg laying in 2 ways - sucking blood causing anemia and by stress. Imagine being eaten alive at night - stressful right?
Once she has overcome the stress and possible anemia, she will start to lay again, but bear in mind, Silkies are renowned for laying prowess

She wasn't broody when she got mites was she or just about to become broody?
Just asking, mine "not silkies" tend to get mites when they're thinking of hatching babies, the sedimentary lifestyle and lax hygiene skills they tend to adopt makes infestation much easier and more severe.
This scenario also bumps your egg wait up to a month most likely.

She just started laying in January and we were chugging along steadily then she stopped and yes became listless and just stopped being active, and yes broody. When examined We found the Mites around her eyes, but vent and everything else was clean. Started the treatments that day and as of last night there were no mites found, so we are going to keep up treatments for a few days, also cleaned the heck out of the entire aviary and checked all of the birds, and treated the floor and all perches. Now we wait for her to feel better and go back to laying. She's still cute as a button though.....

No problem, im much more knowledgeable about broody, mitey birds than i'd like to be lol!
Sounds like you got them early since they hadn't migrated to the vent and wing pits.
Just keep a dry dustbathing area for her and repeat the mite killing in 14 days to wipeout any hatching eggs.

Since she went broody and probably stressed from the mites, it may be awhile before she will start laying again. Daily treatments aren't necessary. Weekly treatments are good. You don't want the mites to develop an immunity to the treatments. Good luck and have fun...
