Mites will not leave!

ok I will look for that stuff! and im positive there was no shavings or anything left in that coop when I was done with it I even took the shop vac. to it and put a bug bomb off and then wiped the whole coop down.

Jeffers carries it if you need to order it: http://www.jefferspet.com/ravap-ec/camid/LIV/cp/A9-R2/

They also carry Gardstar 20% EC.
The problem with those aerosol bug bombs is that they mist and don't penetrate cracks and crevices in the wood where mites like to hide. Wear a good quality dust mask or respirator and eye protection when you do it. Follow the directions on the Ravap label. You'll be happy and so will your chickens.

Those nasty bugs can get resistant by using nothing but Permethrin based products. That's why I stagger back and forth between Ravap and Gardstar. The proof is in the results. I haven't had a mite problem for years since using this program.

Keep an eye out for any wild bird nests nearby. It turned out our mites were originating from a mourning dove nest about 15 ft from the coop. Once I removed that nest, I was finally able to wipe out the mites. GL!

Compost piles w/ old litter that are too close can harbor mites too.

I use Adams Flea and Tick mist for my birds. It has IGR (Insect growth regulator) so the adults won't be able to reproduce, and soon the population dies off.

Does anyone know where I can view pictures of mites, lice, other pests that get on chickens? And also, off subject kindof,
whats wrong with hay as bedding? I've always had that in my coop and bedding in nests. Does it cause mites ect?
My Bantams (free range) don't want to lay in the nest anymore, but the always did before.
