Mites......

I think I have a mite problem. When I went into the chicken house yesterday Tiny little bugs ( could not really see them) got on me....felt really itchy. I Inspected all 8 of my birds and found one with tiny mites I am guessing on her vent , leg , a few other spots. I have her seperated from the rest and have cleaned out the chicken house and dusted with poultry & garden dust this morning. When I went back out early evening felt itchy again and saw the tiny bugs on my protedtive clothing....I am worried about the mites getting in our house or staying on me even after I shower!!!!!! Would like some advice on what I should do to get rid of these little bugs. I am thinking they might be Northern fowel mites because they are out in the dya time on the bird and in the chicken house. I do not feel them when I am in the outside chicken pen.

Bleach the coop, any clothes mites have been on, and any things they may have come in contact with. My snake had mites and the vet said bleach was pretty much the best way to kill them, but that was for a garter snake so check that it's okay for chickens before trying it.
