Can this happen?? I had started noticing these tiny mite looking bugs on me after I’d go out to the coop. It would be one or 2 and I’d just kill them and didn’t think anything of it. I think I saw maybe 1 on my girls and thought it was just a random bug.

But now, my husband and I are getting bit like crazy, and I’ll see these little more bugs on my in our house.

After further inspection when it was getting dark, I did see these bug on the roost bar, so I treated it.

But what can we do to treat our house???

What do these bugs look like? What are you treating with?
This is a zoomed in pic from a video, but this is what they look like.

I got Premo Guard Spray

Yes, this can happen.
You'll want to wash clothes, vacuum, etc.
@rosemarythyme has quite a few posts offering suggestions about treating yourself and the home.
While most mites won't live long on humans, they can still bite and cause distress.

Yeah most of my advice is there in the links. Assuming these are Northern Fowl Mites no they don't live long without birds to feed off of but in the interim they're still very annoying since they'll attempt to feed off of you.

Permethrin is fairly safe for your family as long as you follow instructions, and yes there's permethrin based sprays designed for use in house, if you need to spray things like upholstered furniture you frequent or your chicken boots. It is NOT safe around cats so if you have cats do not use it in the house.

The dogs should be safe from the mites but I think I used a tick preventative like Frontline on them anyhow, since I had it on hand.
