Gasoline and A&D Ointment Treatment Instructions: 3 day treatment; only 2 days with the gasoline, and the legs are to be only Dipped, not held, in the gas:For scaly leg mites like you said the scales are lifting up.
I dipped my chickens feet and legs (not feathers!) In cheap gasoline.
I placed it in a small tub and washed the chickens feet first and held them in the tub for like 1 min or less. I repeated this every other day for a while ( a week or two) and the scales came off the chickens feet and they looked healthier.
They look fine now all scaley mites gone!
Thumbs up to wood ash in the kiddie pool - or other shallow tub large enough to hold at least one at a time. I thought I'd read some people have used an old vehicle tire with the stuff on the ground in the center (the tire just creates a barrier to keep the stuff from getting out all over the place.Maybe try to make them a new dusting area? I've heard of people using a small kiddie pool, a big oil pan, or even a shallow hole dug and filled with sand and wood ash. DE appears to be a hot button issue, but I do remember when we had a fire pit my chickens went nuts over it. Came out looking black as sin, but absolutely ecstatic.
