Mites?

I read that bathing her with dawn dishsoap can help. I have some dawn, Should I try this?
To help with what?
I'd just leave her be....there's no 'fast cure' for funky feathers.
Give good feed and water.

How long have you had her?
Where in this world are you located?
Climate, and time of year, is almost always a factor.
Please add your general geographical location to your profile.
It's easy to do, (laptop version shown), then it's always there!

Like I said I’ve never dealt with mites, lice, or anything like that so at this point I’ve just been trying to find any info I can. I read that dawn can help get rid of lice. She also has some poop stuck to her feathers (I did double check that it is in fact poop and not any sort of mite or flea eggs) so I was thinking of giving her a bath anyway.

I’ve had her for about a week.
I’m in New Hampshire. I thought I added that to my profile sorry! I’ll do that now

Dawn is very drying! They use it to wash the guck off of wild water birds after an oil spill. I can’t imagine it would do her any good, especially if her skin is already dry.

Permethrin is pretty easy to use, will kill any mites, and won’t hurt if there are no mites. No need for other stuff, except for the protein.

I was thinking that. I’ll just hold off and get the permethrin tomorrow. Don’t want to stress her out with anything that won’t help!

Thank you!

I’ll be picking up permethrin tomorrow and using that for a couple weeks.
If she doesn't have bugs, there's no reason to treat with permethrin.

Ehhhh.....IMO, best not to use any treatments if they are not needed.

Since I’m getting mixed responses about using the permethrin, should I wait and see if she improves before using it? How long should I wait?
Since the rooster she’s with isn’t being affected could this mean it isn’t mites/lice?

Her damaged feathers are not going to 'improve'.
She'll look like that until she molts and grows new feathers.

If neither birds have bugs(did you check the roo too?),
there's nothing for the permethrin to kill - so it cannot 'improve' anything.
