I've noticed a little illness in the flock of 1-weekolds to 5-weekolds, and have seperated the affected bird. While researching the possible diagnosis and symptoms, I came accross this illness chart.

Some of the preventative methods, for cold-like symptoms, are by keeping age groups seperate. I have since seperated the flock into two goups.. 3weeks old and under and 4 weeks old and up. sanitized the brooder and I'm hoping there is someone that could give me a clue as to what about keeping chicks together, in varying stages of development, causes vulnerability?
The little lavender cochin is actually doing well today. I might put her back with the others in another day or two. I suspect the onset was caused by a 24hour stint with a 60watt bulp that was mistakenly replaced in the heat lamp instead of the 100watt bulb.

I caught the mistake while sanitizing the brooder. I hope that is the explination for the sneezing/swollen-sinus the cochin came down with, because the alternitives aren't so pretty.

So I thought I might have some luck finding answers about raising chicks together, of various ages, from the seasoned BYCers on this forum, and what are the Pros and cons. Thanks for any input you may have.
