I ordered my first ducklings! I am getting Ancona's and Rouens and I'm curious, if they breed will their offspring be infertile? I've tried looking and all I can come up with are threads on Muscovies. I know mixing a Muscovy with another breed leads to infertility and no eggs but is that true for other breeds? I know its a stupid question but I just want to make sure. I will hatch eggs out and keep/sell the pure Ancona's since I know they're endangered but will use the mix breed for meat and maybe try out a couple as layers and see if egg production is changed, better or worse. Plus, I'm kind of excited to see what that mix would look like! Thank you!

They'll be fertile. Muscovy crosses are infertile because they are not descended from mallards like all other domestic duck breeds are. Think of it like crossing a horse and a donkey and getting a mule. All other domestic breeds can cross and have fertile offspring.
