A friend of our has two pairs of ducks, one pair of Pekin and one pair of Black runners. He just (2 days ago) hatched some ducklings I am wanting to get one or some. He is not sure if the ducklings are pure bred or if they are mixed. His Pekin drake is quite dominate. I am wondering A) what will they look like if they are mixed? B) is it okay to just get 1 duckling and keep it with my chickens after it is fully grown or should I get 2?

I'm not sure how it will look. Ducks are flock animals and would do best with another duck.

They would be happier if you get 2- go for solid coloured dark ones if you want pure runners ( if there are any ) Any with a yellow chest or mixture of dark down as well as patches of white are more likely to be a mix. Any that are pure yellow are most likely to be pure Pekin. Thats just a rough guide- genetics can surprise at times.

Just throwing my two cents in, but I think your friend should have a few more hens in the flock!
And if you want ducks, definitely get two, I feel sorry for lone ducks.
If you get some ducklings, pics would be appreciated!!!!!!
