I have 3 one year old layers and 4 sixteen week old pulletts, by necessity they must all be in the same coop and run. They are getting along fine, but I am confused on the issue of feeding.

Is there a way that I can supplement the protien content for the younger girls or the calcium requirements for the older girls?

What is going to be the actual harm if i feed them all layer mash at this time?

Thanks so much for your help!

I finally searched with the right combo of words and found two or three other topics that ask the same question. Sorry I posted before I saw it!

Do any of you that feed the flock feed have trouble with egg production?

Thanks again
Darlene

I have a hanging metal feeder with laying pellets in it and under that, so nothing can scratch or dust bathe in it, a three inch deep open container with starter crumbles. Don't know about how it will affect anyone. Just starting out here. I have three older silkies and eight young marans that are about four months old. The silkies will have to move when the marans get mature, which is SOON, as several are crowing already.
