I have just started a half dozen turkeys and ducks, as well as 8 one month old Barred Plymouth rocks. The feed store insisted I HAD TO have seperate feeds for each type of bird

So I now have three huge bags of feed that are going to take forever to use - Chick Starter, Turkey Starter, and Duck Crumbles.

Is it really necessary to have a seprate food for each. Also I am starting to put the turkeys and ducklings out together in a pen on sunny and warm days. At this point I am just giving them a bowl of duck crumbles (non-medicated) since I am guessing that the medication is the issue.

Is there really a need for all this - or can I get everyone on the same food (if and when I ever use up these sacks!!

Thanks

Shelley

i dont have turkeys but i do have ducks and chickens and everyone gets the Nutrena NatureWise all flock pellets....which is made for people with mixed flocks...FlockRaiser by purina is another feed for mixed flocks

when mine are to little for pellets i mixed nutrena's meatbird(the only other feed i can get thats reccomend for ducks) which is a crumble with Country lane(store brand feed) all purpose poultry crumbles to bring the protein down to 19% as the meatbird is 22% and i feel thats way to high so i mixe with the country lane thats 16% to lower it...and the coutry lane is the same as the all flock and flockraiser just lower in protein then those two.

so i you can find the all flock or flockraiser or simliar feed meant for mixed flocks you can feed them all that instead of feeding them all different things
