I sit here and stare at my eggs. Trying to match the chicken to the egg. How many eggs of what color we get and how many chickens we have of each breed. I always think I have it figured out, but I'm always wrong. I need HELP. I want to put Polish and Silkie eggs in the incubator to hatch, but I can't figure out which eggs are which. We have Polish, Silkie, Sex-Link, New Hampshire, Orpington Bantams, and a Partridge Rock that are laying. (I do think the Polish is hiding her eggs though.. Every time we find the nest, she moves it.. Haven't seen a Polish egg since around October.)
I had a medium sized round, white egg in the incubator, thinking it was a Polish (Someone here even said they thought it was a Polish), but a silkie hatched out of it!
I've searched silkie egg pictures and they look a lot like some I have in the incubator right now, but they don't look like the ones my first silkie hatched out of. These are round, cream colored, and small.
We thought the Orpingtons were laying the light brown (With a pink tint), pointy eggs (Chicks have even hatched out of these, confirming it), but yesterday I found a cream colored one, and today a white one! They aren't round like I've seen though. I don't think Orpingtons lay white eggs?
And with the big eggs, I'm finding light brown, medium brown, light brown with dark brown speckles, and purplish eggs.
Now who lays what?
(Purple and Speckled eggs not pictured)
Since the lighting is of, I think I'll clarify the colors.
Cream (Actually lighter than the third egg) Round, White Pointed, Light Brown Pointed, Light Brown, Medium Brown.
