They have a bin of mixed red pullets at TSC that could be any of several reddish breeds/hybrids, including possibly RIRs. I am really wanting some RIRs, and I wondered if there are some clues that I can look for to try and pick out which ones might be RIR.

Some are signficantly darker all over than the others, and also I noticed some have two darker streaks down their backs. Are the darker more solid ones possibly RIRs?

That's what I was thinking and hoping...the darkest ones without stripes may well be the RIRs or NJRs. I think I may go back and get some. I'm actually hoping one might turn out to be a RIR rooster, even though they're supposed to be pullets. :)

Haha, well you might get what you want. Its always a 90% chance of a pullet being a roo or the other way around. I got that luck a few years ago, but i wanted a pullet, he turned out to be a big roo. A GLW anyways not a RIR

I got 4 from the bin at my TSC and i believe they all are RIR's here is a picture of them :) I might be wrong about the breed who knows But from comparing to google they look like RIR's to me

Rhode Island Reds are solid colored red. Here's a pic

I think you have Red Sex Link pullets.
