Mixing 6 week old chicks with a not established flock

I have 6 chicks, 6 weeks old. I wouldn't normally have thought to mix them with older hens yet. BUT, yesterday I got 6 ready to lay pullets from the feedstore. These 6 new gals haven't formed their hierarchy yet, and are new to the farm. I'm wondering if this is an opportunity to do a mix since things are already shaken up and there is no established social structure yet.

Thought?

I would not do mix them yet. The older ones will peck them and chase them... a lot. They have no chance against the older ones. They are too small to be mixed with older birds without a mother to protect them.
You can keep them separated from the older ones but in sight, that should help later on.
That is my opinion... there might be other people who think differently.
