Hi All

I am new to the backyardchickens forum, I have been browsing the website for a while and am already hooked.

We have two chickens amongst other pets a whippet, tropical fish, hermit crabs. We have a silkie and a pekin bantam both are around 20 weeks of age and we have had them since around 13wks. The kids absolutely adore them and they are spoilt rotten and love there cuddles.

We would really love to get another couple of chickens but are usure what type and would love some suggestions. We really love the thought of having fresh eggs, but we know that the silkie and pekin are not big layers, however we chose these breeds for there docile nature. Can we mix bantams with a standard chook? I dont want to cause any problems.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

You should be able to mix bantams with other chickens. At first you'll probably have to keep a close eye on them to make sure they don't get picked on by the others.
