Mixing Chicken with Ducks for longer egg period

I don't have ducks, so not sure how they lay eggs. Here are some thoughts/ideas
Since your chickens do take 3 months off duty, it is typical of many chicken breeds. Not sure of breeds available to you in your area, but maybe search out some SEX-LINK breeds. These are generally considered egg laying machines. They may take much shorter periods of time of non laying than Heritage Breeds. Molt being the main reason for non laying. Sexlinks also have shorter lifespans than many other chickens, but in that shorter life, produce abundant eggs.
Your second option to experiment with is adding light into your chicken coop. You know when they start to slack off, so about a month ahead of time start with adding light. For optimal laying help, many feel that 14 hours is ideal time frame. You can experiment with less like 12 hours. Another suggestion here by many is to add the light in the morning before dawn.
Example: It gets dark at 6 PM, you would start light on at 4 AM and have it go off as soon as it was daylight. This way your chickens would be experiencing 14 hours of light.
In large egg facilities that house thousands of chickens, the lights are on ALL the time. That does not mean that chickens are deprived of sleep. Chickens can nap during daylight just the same.
WISHING YOU BEST..... :thumbsup
