I understand that Quail and Chickens don't mix well. Does anyone know what this mean.

1. Does it mean you just can not keep them in the same coop and feed them in the same containers or

2, You can not let them even just forage together or

3. Would I be safe on a 3 acre plot with my chicken coop at least 50ft from the Quail coop and allowing the chickens to forage freely

No, the chickens view the quail as a meal.

All my chickens would kill my quail if they could get to them.

My quail are jumbo coturnix's.

I wouldn't chance it personally, you may end up with a quail still alive, but skinned

I was thinking that I would let the chickens roam freely in the day and keep the quail in a fenced in run that the chickens would not be able to get into.

What I have been hearing is that chickens can pass diseases onto quail that would kill them. But it seems that a lot of folks keep both chickens and quail on the same property.

I am just trying to find out how I can do that without effecting the birds negatively
