I'm wanting a variety of chickens and the ones that I want will not all come in at the same time. I thought I read somewhere on BYC that you can mix different aged chicks together as long as they were 4 weeks or less. Is this true? Also, would it be ok to mix chicks from different hatcheries/feed stores together?

Newborns need to be by themselves until they are 2 or 3 weeks old and then they can be put with chicks no more than 3 weeks older that them. You'll still have to watch for bullying and make sure the littlest ones can get to the food and water. This is what works for me.
