mixing feed for turkey poults

I've never fed it to turkey poults so i cannot say for them but yes I feed newly hatched quail ground cat food (boiled eggs and when they get a bit older i introduce insects like mealies and waxworms, tigerworms etc) gives them a good boost and makes sure they dont have any feather abnormalities later on in life due to lack of protien (the durmor feed i feed them is formulated for chickens, turkeys, and other game birds but doesnt have enough protien go figure...) anywho after talking to breeders who have been breeding quails for 30 some odd years they all said kitten/cat food was the way to go (kitten for chicks, cat food for adults). Once a week is what i feed protien sources to them, more if I have something available that's different, like once a week mealworms, then in that same week boiled eggs and or cat food. I feed high % protien cat food called Wellness Core I forget the amount but it's VERY high for cat food.

One of the feed stores called me today. They have found pheasant food that is 27% protein and is medicated with amprollium(?) It is for pheasants 1 day to 6 wks. Will this work?

Amprollium is an anti coccidial. This will work great for them. I would go ahead and feed them with that feed till they are adults. Try to find the feed with no meds at all.If you can not then feed them the highest protein feed you can find.

You can use Apple Cider Vinegar in their water to replace Amprollium for cocci.

Yup, that is why I gave alternatives to the med feed. I even advised to find feed with no meds.if that is all one can find then I guess they have to use it......

Thank you all. I ordered my feed this morning. Now, just the waiting...
