What color egg and type bird will you hatch if you mix a coturnix and a celadon? I have coturnix quail now and thinking of adding celadon to our flock but wasn't sure what we would get if they mix breed.
Unfortunately, the celadon gene is recessive, so they need to have a copy from both parents to lay blue eggs. Doesn't mean you can't mix strains, but it'll take a generation or two to get the blue color back reliably
P.S. they're all japanese coturnix quail, celadon (blue) egg layers are just a special mutation
