Can I combine my coturnix with the Texas A&Ms?

It seems my 2 coturnix which are 4 wks old are male and female. They are great together but am fearful as they are ready to breed being the only ones together

I don't know much about quail yet but I will assume that Cots & A&M's are nearly the same bird, with a few minor differences. I think as long as the general size of both sub-species are the same, they should be okay. I do know you can mix brown/white and other colours of cots without issue. [But obviously one cannot mix buttons with cots.]

Just make sure to follow the general rule for both species (I again assume 1 male/6 females).

Hoping someone more knowledgeable can correct me or cheer me on if I got the above right.

OK, you're saying you have 2 birds. Unless I'm missing something, yes, you can put the 2 together. The male will try to mate with the hen, but they aren't fully mature just yet. He may also pressure the hen daily, and she could get exhausted from his advances.

yes I had 2 hatch almost 4 wks ago. They have been together since they hatched. So I guess I have 2 questions. ..

1. Can they stay together alone...or will it end up being too much for the hen???

And

2. Can I add A&Ms to the same coop or should they not be mixed???

Yes. They Can Stay Together Alone , And Yes They Can Be Mixed With The A&m's As LOng AS YoU Don't Mind The TWo Colors Crossing

For the time being yes you can house them together. Long term I think it's better to introduce 1 to 3 more females to divert the male's attention. Even with a 3 to 1 ratio females to male in my community cage there are some females who are bald from all the mating.

Thx. Go figure one of each but then again only had 4 eggs. Just wanted to be sure before I get the A&Ms. I will try to get more corturnix too...
