so my 1st hatch poults will be 3 weeks old next week...on the same day(s) i should have another 25 or so hatching.....

will i be able to mix the two ages together in one brooder or will the smaller ones be trampled by the 3 week olds thus needing a seperate brooder?

(im asking now so it gives me time to build something if needs be)

also at around what age will the older ones no longer require a heat lamp?

I would keep the new hatches seperate from the 3 week olds, at least until the newley hatched ones are about 2 to 3 weeks old. So far, so good here on mixing 2 different hatches, they are 4 weeks and 6 weeks old, have them outside in a pen togather. They need the heat lamp until they are feathered out well, decrease the tempature by 5 degrees F per week, I started mine out at 99 degrees F, and decrease from there, leave them enough space to get out of the heat if they are too warm. Here in Oklahoma , our weather is getting to 80 degrees F or so in the daytime, still around 55 to 65 at night, so have been turning the heat lamp off during the day, back on at night.
