Hello,
I’ve just had my first experience with worms in my three chickens after finding roundworm in one of their droppings. I treated them with Kilvrerm in their water which they readily drank. However after examine their droppings I realised they also have tapeworms, which Kilverm doesn’t treat. I have some avitrol plus tablets to give them but don’t know how long I should wait between doses. I would like to give them ASAP to get rid of the worms but I know a second dose is advised 2 weeks after. Is this because of the worm lifecycle or because too much levamisole will harm the chickens? Thank you.

It would be best to go ahead and use the Avitrol Plus now, then repeat with Avitrol Plus in 14 days.
When mixing a wormer in water, not all birds will drink the same amount of water. Wormy birds may not drink enough of the treated water to be effective, or wont drink at all, even withholding water the day before.
Both Kilverm and Avitrol Plus contain Levamisole, a very good wormer for all types of roundworms. The Avitrol Plus also contains Praziquantel to kill tapeworms. When you repeat dosing in 14 days with the Avitrol Plus, it kills worms hatched from eggs missed by the initial worming. It ends their lifecycle.
Keep in mind that if your birds are on soil, there will be worm eggs in and on the soil. Since chickens peck the soil constantly, they'll pick up worm eggs and swallow them, starting the worms lifecycle over again.
It's up to you how often you should worm your birds and depending on your soil conditions.
I worm my birds monthly due to our warm moist soil conditions most of the year.

Thank you. So you don’t think it will harm the chooks at all if I worm with the avitrol after using the Kilwerm only four days days ago? They all drank a lot of the liquid.
