MJ's little flock

It's been warm today. 33 (91.4) and Mary was panting when I got home.

Tomorrow will be cooler, but I'd better get myself over to Bunnings and set up a misting system before the heat really sets in.
So funny to hear 33C described as "warm!" That is the hottest temperature I have ever experienced and it was boiling hot 🔥!
Today's temperature here: -10C/14F.

Sunday morning with the hens 🤗 Mary's subdued chat is warming my heart.

She's been communicating with the two new hens over the back fence. They're young red layers in a little coop. I haven't looked but I hope they get to roam around their backyard each day. Anyway, that neighbour is a lovely chap who I'm sure I could easily talk chickens with.
That is wonderful. I love that she is making the new hens feel welcome.

In my case I think it's because they know I've got food. Be lovely to think they all adore me.
There does come a point though that a bond not so food dependant can be established. Some of the hens that gather around the chair where I sit are not after food.
What exactly it is that I provide in such cases I doubt I will ever be sure of.
Security. It is safe to be with you. No greater gift you can give them.
