MJ's little flock

Indeed it does not. 😆
I really should stop making a fuss of 4 egg days, but with only 4 hens, 3 of whom have had serious health complaints,* and 2 of whom are middle aged, it always seems like the most brilliant surprise when I find 4 eggs in the nest

*Janet continues to struggle with bacterial overgrowth in spite of the special bird probiotics. Mark's attitude is moving towards complacent - it seems the bacteria will finish her off in time. Poor old darling.

I came across your chicken posts, and absolutely love what you did! Also Peggy is the prettiest chicken I’ve ever seen.
Oh thank you!

And thank you from Peggy too, who's becoming quite mellow in her attitude now her friend Mary has a new lease on life.

Do you keep many chickens? A specific breed or "just chickens"?

I've taken a photo of Mary's new feathers sprouting between her legs. I haven't checked but I assume the new growth extends along her tummy.

Still a big bald patch but that might be from the tooshi trim I gave her a couple of months back.

Hmmm I wonder if she'll have the same issues of runny poop now her obstructive fat lump has been removed.

Just to remind everyone how bald she was after her surgery.

I'm really pleased her feathers are growing in so well.

I've been trying to get a photo of her bald patch but it's not easy.

It goes from her tail, over her cloaca, from leg to leg, to about a third of the way along her keel.

Here's another photo that indicates Mary's bald patch.

Tonight the hens' water is dosed with the probiotics @LozzyR recommended. I'm hoping it helps Janet, and does no harm to Peggy and Ivy. It'll be useless for Mary until her clavulox course is over (Monday morning I think). Because of Mary's treatment regime, I'll keep the probiotics going for a month or less if I see negative effects.
So it's been a month of special bird probiotics.

Is that long enough?

I can't tell if Janet or the bacteria are winning.

Some days she seems great, others she's very sneezy.
