Yes, I arrived home after dark last night. Thank you for the birthday wishesWill you be home then ? I'm sure your mind must keep wandering on the chickens while you're talking work !
I'm not sure if it's already done or to come but wishing you a happy birthday!![]()

The eggs didn't hatch, so it's time for Mary to consider her options. I took down the temporary fence and opened up the little coop. As in, every door and lid open. That was enough for mary to get up for a good long self-care session, actually she's still going. So I've removed the eggs and they had no weight at all. I think they were never fertile. I messed up her space a little but hadn't the heart to destroy her actual nest.
Ah, she has just this moment returned to her nest.
I'll see how her day unfolds and if necessary, put her on the roost tonight.
Meanwhile, the pullets are out of their room and have been wandering around the back yard. Right now, they're dust bathing. Thoroughly. I thought Edie looked a little down this morning when I first clapped eyes on her(him?) but is rocketing aling now. I'll be watchful. The other two are thriving.
The river chickens are surprisingly ok in the laundry. But they haven't convinced me. I still consider it too small and too dark and too poorly ventilated. Their appointment is for 5.10 this afternoon.
Blossom is doing very well and was so happy to se me last night! When she's extremely joyful she races around the house, which is exactly what she did for about 15 minutes, then she was underfoot and purring until I went to bed.
The pullets have recalled the wonder of toast crumbs
