MJ's little flock

Edie laid her first large egg yesterday and she laid it in the nest. It's more elongated than I'm used to. I daresay Edie made the same comment!

Here it is next to her little one from Thursday, which someone took a peck at.

I can understand why she thought they were poops and not eggs! :gig

I have a plan to grow a small lawn at some point in the future. Maybe Autumn 24 or 25? I'll have to make sure the chooks can't ruin it.

My treatment regimen will be ongoing for a few more weeks and then I'll have an appointment with the specialist for a progress check. It's only mildly inconvenient and uncomfortable, but the constant niggling worry is bothersome.
Hi MJ,

I haven't been over here on your thread, but Lozzy tagged me - I am so sorry to hear you are having health issues and do hope all goes well for you!:hugs:hugs

I have all I can do to keep up on @BY Bob 's thread, but I must say that I really miss you and @Ribh and @LozzyR: both your general presence and flock! I hope you are able to pop over there occasionally.

I also hope @Shadrach is doing well - both personally and with his rescue flock. I do miss his insight at times, as well!

The picture on the front of a Calendar I was given: So true! (and so handsome :) )

And, one of my ever independent BR girls. I swear she is saying "yeah, I'm free...free at last!" As she escapes over my 5' fence!

Hello

The treatment works in 4/5 cases, so I'm hopeful. As far as health problems go, it's a little one although it might get nasty later. I'm grateful the specialist noticed it because I hadn't!

I know. Bob's thread is a cacophony. Early on it was a place for Bob to talk about the hens at Fluffy Butt Acres, but his kindly generosity of spirit has led to many people joining in. Often pages and pages go by with nothing from Bob. It's a lot to keep up with.

Shad posts almost every day on his thread. I post a few times a week, although I'd like to slow it down to weekends only. I'm chairing a national committee this year and next and need to make time for it.

That said, I love having one thread that documents all my flocks' adventures. I'm fervently hoping it never becomes popular with other people. I think most of my byc friends know this and I hope you're not offended by my preference to keep it very slow and quiet. I would be very hurt if it were taken over by others and turned into a thread for other purposes.

The vibe does indeed attract the tribe! People who thrive in tiny tribes might do well to keep their vibe from becoming too warm :)

Gorgeous hen! Look at her go!

I’m hoping I haven’t started an avalanche of migrations over to this thread, but I suspect it will stay quiet. Sorry MJ, I probably should have asked first! I also like it that this thread is slow-moving so I can just pop in and out and it doesn’t take hours to catch up, never mind days!

Here’s some presumptuous tax:

The boys were pretty quiet today, I wish they were like that all the time! Sometimes G-man will just start crowing at all times of the day, going off for about 5 minutes or so, and Bela sometimes joins in for a crow-off! There was very little crowing today, which was nice. The actual vocalisation doesn't bother me, it's what the neighbours think that does. Not that anyone's complained (yet).
