MJ's little flock

They’re both still under a year old, that might have something to do with it.

I’ve attached a couple of videos and I wondered if @Shadrach or another rooster owner could help me interpret a noise G-man is making. If I let Bela out first, he makes a sort of cooing noise. It sounds happy, maybe he’s pleased about being let out? You can’t see him because he’s still in the darkened laundry, but if you turn your sound up, you can hear him. Meanwhile, Bela is doing his idling motor impression!

And here’s a video of the four of them waiting for breakfast.

The surely are pretty boys. 😍

No-one has said anything yet. I’m hoping that if no-one is getting woken up at stupid o’clock, then hopefully the day crowing doesn’t bother them. They’re pretty quiet today, given that it’s raining.

Yes, we’re off to Mauritius, can’t wait! 🛬
Sounds wonderful. Enjoy.

The cockerel making the constant cluck is annoyed/slightly uncertain. That stops when he gets in the daylight and can see properly.
The other call is roosting/nesting/friendly. Roosters often make that sound when they are on the roost bar and trying to encourage the hens to come and roost next to them.
All good I would say. No sign of intended aggression that I can see or hear.

Second video.
They're a bit bossy but it looks to me as though they are going to make two pairs. That can ofteen work really well as long as no other males of females are introduced.
Looks great so far. They are still young though and ime it's very difficult to tell what they will be like as adults at this stage.

I think, from what little I've seen you're in with a shout. As long as you leave their hens alone andjust handle the boys in the daytime (They're making a balance now and you being possibly seen as a competitor would unbalance this)

I hope you don't get any complaints. I think you'll really enjoy having both sexes assuming things carry on as they are.

Thanks Shad. I thought Bela would be used to being handled twice a day now (when they check in and out of the Banned-cock Hilton) but he still carries on like he’s being murdered!
