Oh good! She was only 9 months or so, just a pullet. The only good thing is that she had the best life right up to the end, she had food in her crop and looked happy.
Any thoughts about how she died?

Very little heart stress here. Lots of shade and water. They have born this summer better than any I can remember. Even Aurora who has never done well in heat. She is just fluffier than everyone else. What a refreshing treat! How have they been doing in the summer heat Bob?
Oh my gosh! I'm so very sorry.I really need a hug right now.
Yesterday evening I fed all the chickens, and they all seemed fine. Then when I went out later to shut them up for the night I found that Betty had died.
I have no idea why, but I think something like a heart attack is most likely, as it looked like it happened just as she was jumping up onto the roost.
I don't know what to do with Bertha now, she seems alright but one hen with two cockerels isn't going to go very well, and she never really fitted in with any of the other hens.
Its been a rotten week in one way and another..![]()
I'm glad for that one rooster but the whole situation is sad. How's this guy @Shadrach ?

It's a shame so many irresponsible people are dumping their roosters but I'm glad this one has sorted himself out with a few friends and enough food.
Oh yes, the “hatch-a-chick” programmes in childcare centres and primary schools. How's this guy @Shadrach ?
