MJ's little flock

A moment ago, a pelican flew past and the hens went into hiding.

Oh good! When you're not busy, I'm wondering how often roosters lose spurs.
It's been quite common here. Notch has lost both his. Rip knocked one off. Cillin has broken one and lost the other. Mag has broken an end of one of his.
If they break at the tip they do grow back very slowly but here at least a break at the leg means they don't grow back.

Yes, led by Peggy. I was sitting right beside them but my presence offered no reassurance.
That's good. We get herons, geese and ducks flying over here. The herons come over quite low sometimes and cause complete panic. It doesn't matter if I'm there. They don't take any chances.

CCCL that's wonderful. They are so wonderful at that age. Enjoy every minute as it will be over in a flash. My youngest turns 38 this year. She always complained that her birthday was too close to Christmas. When she was old enough to understand I explained that she was a wonderful tax deduction :gig As a repeat C we had the choice, 12/27 or 1/4... I chose the tax deduction.
