MJ's little flock

River had swelling under one eye, which was weeping. The vet said it was a blocked sinus, plus the gunk had blocked up one ear. The next day it looked the swelling had gone down and she was a lot more animated. I don’t know what mycoplasma is, it’s just the term he used.
That's fast progress! I imagine she would've felt very relieved 🤗

I was speaking to a man that raises chickens and he said that when this circle forms it is coming to the end of their laying eggs.
Thanks for chipping in.

I wonder if you've had a chance to read what her vet diagnosed? She has a mild peritonitis which we're treating with lincospectin.

By the way @Shadrach I'm very grateful to you for teaching me to handle the chickens at night time and how to lift them up correctly. It's getting easier and easier as the hens learn there's nothing to fear.
I still don’t know how to do this. Do you press on the front of the leg so they step backwards or in the back of the legs so they step forward?

Both work ok in my experience but others have noted a tap on the back causes a chicken to step up and back.

There's a 4 berth cuddle puddle on the doormat 🤗

They're too far away for a good photo and I don't want to creep over and disturb them, so here's a photo of the Jacaranda flowers instead.
