If the new coop got here this week I was considering letting Belle do what you have let your ladies do with the barnyard bitsa eggs I could get from the farm a few blocks away where my girls came from.I'll be fine Bob. I've been through much, much worse and ghat knowledge keeps me strong when things go wrong.
That's not the same as unfeeling. It's more like resilience than unfeeling.
Ivy is coping well. Peggy is almost not broody anymore and spending more time up than sitting.
I was hoping for an easy hatch, I said it over and over through the incubation. That didn't work out,but that's chickens. Things go wrong. Look at your year, look at Sif, River, Sandy... the list goes on. Chickens invite us to be resilient and I try to step up to that.
It’s been hot here so I’ve been taking Belle out, she started plucking her chest feathers again yesterday when she was in there which tells me she’s as serious as the first time. The 2 other times she was a bit half arsed. 4 times since spring though, is that crazy or normal?!
I’m back at work friday and coop isn’t here so instead ive set up the cage for her tonight to try to coax her out of it.
I’ll think on the idea a bit longer, I’m not sure how emotionally resilient I am right now…or ever

Sorry for the novel on your thread MJ! It helps to share with chicken folk, others don’t understand or care
