MJ's little flock

Nope. Dostotevsky but not Tolstoy. I can't abide Dickens but I've read Beouwulf & The Green Knight. I have peculiar tastes despite a degree in literature. And for me that is the problem with book clubs. Finding anyone with similar taste is nearly impossible.
I've got more than halfway through Don Quixote but I haven't picked it up for a while now. Some chapters were ok, despite the flowery language and others were pretty much a whole chapter of him cr*pping on about whatever and I would just skim over it! It's a tough read and honestly, I wasn't really enjoying it. We've got quite a few classics, most of which I've read, to varying degrees of enjoyment.

I love Tolstoy but have never read Dostotevsky. Love Beowulf. Have not read the green knight.

There you go.......

Thanks for the warning.

Marvelous. Blossom knows where your time is better spent. 😆
I got through the book and I'm glad I read it but I wish I hadn't lost a weekend for it. I now have the last two pages of a student's laboured conference paper to closely read and correct before we meet later today, tonight's book discussion, and the very last chapter of a thesis I'm examining to read tomorrow morning before writing my report and getting on with teaching tomorrow afternoon. A board meeting tomorrow evening. A weird talk to the nation's accountants before breakfast Wednesday morning, two formal inquiries with cheating students Wednesday afternoon, and another weird talk to absurdly wealthy school kids Thursday morning (tried to say no to that one but they rejigged their schedule to fit me in, so I'm stuck with it). Then a lecture Friday. And the preparation and planning those talks suggest. While responding to the customary few hundred emails and participating in a few meetings. Hey ho. Better get out of bed I guess or I'll never get through it all.

hmmm It's a good week to practice mindfulness and to improve my self care.
