MJ's little flock

I am so happy with my rooster! I caught him mating with Ha'penny last night, so I have visions of frizzled Campines! 🤣 Ah, I should have looked @ the dates on your posts. I am so far behind on everyone's news I assumed you had begun.
A frizzled Campine would be the perfect addition to your flock!

I'll be right over. 😁
The lid needs to be aligned with the base. It's upholstered in velvet so it reflects light and catches the eye. If it's not aligned, I'll be annoyed every day.

It needs someone to hold it in alignment while the other person attaches the hinges. Or it needs fancy clamps and while Dad had a lot of fancy clamps, I haven't found any in the shed for this purpose.

For now, it's functional with the lid resting on top of the base. Next time my brother visits, we'll attach the lid.

The best part is that it holds every single one of the jigsaw puzzles and board games! It's nice to have them in the social space.

Sounds pretty. 😍

I think it seems like an OK flat pack coop. I'm not expecting it to last long but it'll do. I was delighted with the price and with the staff who helped me carry it and get it in the car.

What are your thoughts about it Loz? Have you had it long?
We’ve had it about 18 months, when we we’re quarantining Angel, Bela and G-man. It had to wait until quarantine was over before I could put lacquer on it. I think I cut out a piece of plastic sheeting for the nest box, and possibly a cardboard overlay, but I’ll have to go and check.

The thing is, the whole peninsula on which these few suburbs are built is sand all the way through and down. So I don't have any turf or any soil that would hold sufficient moisture to clump together. The sand dries quickly and would simply fall through the slats.

She could have her nest in the roosting section of the new coop as it won't be used for roosting. That would enable the avoidance of ants and bugs and prevent draughts from cooling the nest.
A turf from a garden center (?) I would use a sheet of EPDM rather than neoprene which tends to be soft enough to peck bits out of.
