I think MJ does what I do and uses literally a big magnet to remove metal junk so the chicken’s can’t eat it. I am constantly finding old nails and shards of metal around the place.

Yes, that's what I was doing. A few nails, screws, and staples were picked up. Many small shards of metal too.

The magnet is about a metre long, it has a wheel at each end and it has a long handle like a broom. Very fit for purpose.
