is there a mod online right now? I have a non emergency, that I would like to discuss via PM (not a problem, but a question)

Please remember that we sleep at night (most of us anyway).
A PM to any staff member will be seen in due course. Usually within hours.

I've seen a couple of you guys on here pretty late, it was worth a shot, lol

The comment about liking to just be members went right over my head. I missed coffee time today and well, my brain just never woke up.

There never was a problem, just something I needed to ask a mod privately, and didnt need to rush to do it, so I couldnt see hitting the report button. Doesnt it notify mods on cell phones and such if someone hits "report"?

Using the report button is generally the fastest way to reach whichever mod is available. You can even report a post when it has nothing to do with the post -- just say so in the report. If you PM a mod because their avatar says "online," you could be PMing one who went off line while you were writing. Or you could be PMing one who (like me) has a bad habit of leaving my computer on BYC and going off somewhere. When a report is not in any sense an emergency, it may not be handled before some others are.

Got it. Dont pm the mods, hit the report.

thanks for the info, sorry to have been a bother.

Not a bother at all!!!

And I didn't say, don't PM the mods!

Actually, it might be appropriate to ask a private nonemergency question as a PM. It's just not necessarily the fastest way to get a response.

If you are wondering whether it would be OK to start a thread about something, for example, you could go either way; a PM would give you room to write enough to explain the situation. Or maybe you know a particular mod has experience with a particular breed you are interested in. It's the best way to handle a name change request. There are probably lots of good reasons to PM a mod. We all get PM's from members all the time, about all sorts of things. And we answer.

A PM is just not the best way to handle a spammer, or some new jerk posting nasty stuff, which is all I was trying to get across.

We are mods because we want to help BYC, which means helping members. Heck, it's a hobby to me, and I enjoy it, to tell the truth

Well, I agree with Kstaven. It will be nice when the mods page is up for this very reason, I had a non emergency question, that I would have liked to have answered fairly quick, but was not worth sending out "alarms" for. Not a problem with anyone, just something I needed a little guidance on.

Yup, the mod page.

I expect that ya'll will have it up and running by morning? I, mean, with all this spare time ya'll have. Its not like you really have to DO anything, like fixing bugs, or provide tech support or get a new platform running smoothly.

Speaking of Kstaven.......is someone holding him hostage? What's the ransom? He is a pretty good guy most of the time, I may pay it.
