I don't know anything about R values and all my bators are plastic or styrofoam, so I can't help you there. Just wanted to say your new bator is gorgeous. It would be a lovely piece of furniture in its own right, which isn't something you could ever say of the plastic bators. How old is it? I take it it's quite new but made to look 'classic'?

And whether you have a tiny 3 egg bator or a huge cabinet, whether it's styrofoam or wood, the basic principles of incubation are the same. You'll get all the info, advice and help you could ever want here on BYC.

Well I can't wait to put some eggs in it! Just have to decide which kind. Would like to find a chart that breaks down temps/days of each breed variety. Thanks for all the comments & will let you know how it works. Will have many questions coming from a newbie. Gonna order my eggs today hopefully. I don't know how old it is, but it looks fairly new or maybe well preserved & used lightly? Also which I found odd is the model, serial, amp, voltage numbers are all handwritten with a type of sharpie.

Hello, I am new to the site but want to congratulate you on your Petersime acquisition. I, too, am getting a model #1 shortly. I got it from a guy in WA on CL and it is being transported in a couple weeks. I am looking for another model #1 or a 4 or 5, preferably a top-hatch version. Did the guy you got yours from have any of the 3 leftover? If there is a slight chance of this, please send me a PM. Thanks.

I really want one of those model 1 incubators. I remember going in hatcheries when I was younger that had them. It is a beautiful machine. Anyone know where I can find one for a decent price?
