Can one of the moderators tell me what I need to do to prevent PMs from certain people? I am being harassed in PM by a member here. Even though I have asked that they not PM me, they continue to do so.

Thanks

I found this:

Can I stop someone from following me?

If you're concerned about a member who's following you, visit their profile page and click "Block Member." This will also prevent them from sending you private messages and will collapse their posts when you view the forums, so use this carefully! Also note that you cannot block site administrators and moderators.

(note that I am not a moderator)

You can block them, but the administration needs to know who's harassing you so that they can put an end to it. Harassment is not allowed here. I would also send them the pm's as well.

Thanks for your help. I tried that once, but it didn't work. I'll try again !!

Good idea. I'll follow your advice on this.

Thanks !!

Blocking a member is a very effective way to deal with receiving unwanted PM's. This option is available to all members by hovering over the avatar of the member you want to block. Once you have blocked them, the option to "block member" will change to "unblock member." Keep in mind there may be some delay in the block taking effect. Once you have blocked them, you will also be unable to see their posts.

If you do not wish to block them, you can also simply delete their PM without reading it. Unless you receive a PM from a staff member, we do not expect you to open any PM, much less respond, if you do not want to. Ignoring someone is usually a pretty good way to get them to leave you alone.

Since you are always free to block or delete unwanted PM's, and because they are private, we do not ordinarily interfere with the content of PM's. An exception would be a spammer who is spamming via PM.

This is great information, unfortunately, blocking isn't working. I blocked this member twice and continued to receive PMs. However, the posts on threads is blocked and I cannot see them.

Thanks

I'm sorry this is happening to you. If you cannot see their posts, then I would guess this is one of those things that is mysteriously being delayed. If they continue to send PM's I think you will find they will soon cease showing up in your inbox. I did hear of one other instance similar to this, where the block took several hours to take effect, but eventually it did. I'll report it.
