lets say they are all "mutts" my friend who has his farm next door has a hole bunch of chickens out in open range .....we talki about orphingtons, barred rocks, rhode islands, leghorns, naked necks, wheatons, summers, easter eggs, etc....allong with all his roosters.........so as i can have some purebreed i can also have some mix crosses....................but hey.....they were all free.......cant argue that......
It is a bit of work. But with that many it is only for about 3.5 days until the others go into the hatcher for lockdown (I set eggs every 2 weeks). Then it is only a little over 200. But now with the trays I just got I can just tilt all the eggs so it should be much easier. When I have the time with make an automatic turner for it.
TODAY IS DAY 4 ON MY 150 EGGS WHICH I WENT AHEAD AND CANDLED THEM.........HERE IS THE STATUS:

hehehehe.....last hatch of the season......hehehehe.....i said that on last hatch and i have right now 235 eggs......my wife just nods her head as she watches me arrive with a stack of egg cartons from my neighbors farm..........hehehehe...................i just said to her........this is the last one.....i promise.......she just turns around and heads inside just nodding her head...........
