Modifying prefab coops

Has anyone had success modifying a prefab coop to make it predator proof? I want to get some quail and have been thinking about getting a small coop and adding hardware cloth to make it safer. I’m not sure if the fir wood most of the cheaper ones are made of is strong enough to stand up to chewing by like a fox or coyote. Would covering all the wood plus all the wide wire work?

If I can’t quickie fix one up I’ll probably just attempt to build a big box out of boards and hardware cloth but I’m not outrageously handy!

I doubt that spending the $$ for a poorly built prefab, and then trying to improve it enough to be useful, is worth it. Spend time and money on a sturdy safe structure instead.
