In all honesty I really wish my name was not brought up in this issue. Like I said
before many of my posts never get a response either. There are a LOT of other
people who get a heck of a lot more responses from me, not that that's a bad thing.
It was mentioned here that certain people are intimidated by me. Trust me, if
you knew me you wouldn't be intimidated at all.
But let's do some analysis...
It was said a good name and avatar make a big difference. That is SO TRUE.
With 15000 members how on earth are we supposed to remember the
diferent "chicks", "girls", "Okies(I know you Okiemama and Okiechick)", and
usernames that have no meaning to anyone but the user.
Another issue is post count. When I jump on one of the other forums I belong
to, ask a question, and a member with 5000 posts responds, I feel a bit
intimidated too.
I've been an active member here for 1 1/2 years. I also had another user
name I used for a while just to get out of the "PurpleChicken" stigma.
That username didn't get the response PC usually does.
Why do my posts get response and why do people know of me? Where do I
start?
1-I've made some of the most ridiculous posts in the history of BYC
2-Silkies are evil
3-I've done my best to help out a lot of members here and I have a full pm
inbox to prove it. That's the best way to make friends.
4-I incubate chicks, a popular subject
5-I have meat birds, another popular subject
6-I make the mistake of getting wrapped up in the political threads
7-I POST A LOT OF PICTURES!!!
8-I'm here at the right times
9-I'm here TOO MUCH
10-Many of my friends here are also friends in real life, even those who live far
away.
I could continue.
There are plenty of people here who don't like me and I couldn't care less,
unless they don't like me because I mistakingly said something to hurt thier
feelings.
People have mentioned cliques here. There are groups of people who migrate
towards each other. The only clique I'm in is the CT crew and that's not a clique
but a group of friends. "Clique" usually implies keeping people out. All of the BYC
sub groups I know of welcome people in.
Jackie, like I said before you are one of the core members here. Every member here
is a valued one.
P.S. Jackie, I can count on one hand the amount of threads I've started that got
this many responses.
