I am new also - I started to feel the same way but honestly when I do get on it's so many post I normally only scan the topics and pick some to reply to based on that not based on who posted it since I don't know anyone here!

All I have to say is pictures pictures pictures.
I have an insane husband that has an alter ego, and I think the only way anyone ever knew we where on the message board was seeing his crazy pictures, then people just look at our threads to see if he has done anything "out there" sadly.....nothing lately....but I fear he is planning something soon.

At times I feel that way too. Have been coming here since spring, but haven't posted too much. I read all the time, and sometimes when I have replied to a post or thread, I get this strange feeling of disapproval. It keeps me from posting again, and after awhile I try again. When I first came to the board, I sked some questions about DE and whether there was anything that could substitute for it. Where I live, you can only send for it, a long ways away. Another woman from my area also joined in to ask the same questions. The responses we got were kinda like "What we say is the only way!" and my friend got sort of slapped down by another member. She is now gone completely, no trace that she was ever here.

I have asked questions and for help, and haven't gotten much of an answer. I have tried using the search for my questions, find lots of threads that apply, but realise that the answers to the questions are many times different. Same question, different answer. I've posted pics so you all can see what I'm referring to, and that helps.
Once I replied to a thread that I thought was interesting, when I went back later to see what others might have added, it was gone, and I thought maybe it had been moved. I asked where it went and got a quote from the rules about not questioning a moderator's actions in closing or deleting a thread. Nothing about how the mod thought maybe the thread was going south, or someone might have made a complaint or anything halfway pleasant. It seemed kinda rude to me.

So I felt that I should apologise to the mod, so that she/he wouldn't think I was trying to be a smart***, not my intention at all. But after that, I did almost feel like making a smart remark. (No, I didn't do it ) Maybe I'm too sensitive?
I have, and do belong to some other message boards and know very well about how the dynamics of a board work. Especially when the membership is as large as this one. There is that matter of not being able to see the poster's face as they type, or hear the tone of their voice. Yes, that's what the smilies are for, so you can see the foolish grin on my face, and hear the chuckle as I type.

And the mods don't have all day to play nicey nicey, so maybe they could add a smilie too.
There have been some times when I tell myself to just forget about this board and not waste so much time reading all these posts about just about everything. After about 1/2 day, I am already wondering what has happened that I have missed. So, here I am, back again. I'll keep on trying I guess, and see if I get more responses in the future. If not, I'll keep on reading, because I'm learning so much from all of you and it's very neat to see how everyone all across the country handles life in the slow lane with their chickens.
