Huh. I thought for sure you were putting your character in danger to save with a dog, to get appreciation and the whatever-can-we-do-to-thank-yous from the horses, then make them accept Flip.

A tall, dark Arabian mare stood in a creaking red barn, stuck in a small stall. The stalls around her were all filled with wild-eyed horses, frightened by the storm. The mare, just days from her foaling date, was pacing nervously when the lightning hit. The old wood didn't stand a chance; the flames spread quickly. The mare, frightened out of her wits, jumped the door to the stall and raced out the open barn doors. She galloped for several miles, finally stopping under a massive oak to wait out the storm.
