Bandit snorted and raced into the woods, where he yelped and then made no sound.

A young boy emerged from the woods, looking frightened. He had gathered Bandit's spotted body up in his arms and was talking soothingly to him. Now he slowly put Bandit down and backed into the woods, then changed his mind and stayed where he was, eyes wide.
