Once Jingo was done with Jet she walked quickly to Dahlia and her mate, shaking her had in frustration

Holly returned to Flip with the air of a defeated veteran.
"They wouldn't accept you, stallion," he told him. "I even threatened death to the herd. They wouldn't obey."
Flip frowned. "Holly," he said, unhappy. "Perhaps it would have been better if you hadn't..." He shook out his mane. "Just that, of course they wouldn't take me back if they didn't have a choice anyway."
Holly looked away, snarling at a small pile of manure. "They said your name was Flip."
"To some it is," the dun stallion replied slowly after a moment. "To others, something else." He hesitated. "In the Dutch language, I am Flip. In Greek, I am Phillip. They mean roughly the same thing - or so L-- or so I have been told." Close call, he thought to himself. Must be more careful next time.
The Brittany spaniel shook his head. "I did you a favor, horse," he warned. "However adventurous I may be, I am not inclined to waste my time as a messenger boy for a pack of brumbies."
Flip showed his teeth. "Brumbies, shbumbies. I need the herd to understand me."
"The lead mare has a den. And others who fight for her. Two stallions were injured, possibly mortally." The dog licked his paw.
"How dare she...! I know the ones who fight for her, but which are the stallions?"
"One was the mate of a black mare called Dahlia. He tried to protect her after another black horse, a stallion that fights for Jingo, lashed out at her foal."
"Bucephalus. And Jet..."
"What would you like me to do about it?"
"If you would, Holly, round up your gang. Take those rebels by the hoof and spin them out of the herd. Make their little fiances come with them." Flip showed disgust at his last sentence.
"And... which would those be?" Holly had a twinkle in his eye.
"Sienna, Shadow, and Twilight. Possibly others."
"Alright, general." Holly saluted Flip with his paw, gravely smiling. Then he trotted off into the woods importantly.
"Good luck, Holly," Flip whispered to himself. "Fare thee well - and thank you." Then he turned back to his feed bins.
